YWCA Melaka, established in 1921, was endowed 83 years later with a beach house in Limbongan. It currently has 2 on-going community outreach projects.
Members conduct monthly conversational English sessions for migrants. These sessions, carried out in partnership with the Catholic Church in Melaka, provide not only learning opportunities for the migrants, but also serve as a social outings for them as volunteers conduct tae-kwon-do and line-dancing classes as well.
YWCA Melaka also works with single mothers by providing income generating skills and opportunities. Hands-on training for maintenance work and the use of cleaning machines enables women to find employment, while a small home-based catering network enable them to earn supplementary income.
Plans are underway to open the beach house for family holidays and small group retreats.
